Finding great food in Canggu is easy, simply head to the nearest warung and you’re sure to leave happy. We get it though, eating local food every day can quickly get tedious. So, for that reason, we’ve put together our “Best restaurants in Canggu” guide for when you want something different.

The best restaurants in Canggu
Our favourite restaurants in Canggu guide is by no means comprehensive. We don’t tend to eat at restaurants like this, instead preferring to stick to local food which compliments our budget. Though every now and then, when we’re feeling like a treat we’ll head out to one of these joints. The following foodie’s list is just a few of our favourite places to eat that we’re sure you’ll love too.
The Fat Mermaid is a chilled restaurant in Canggu, that describes themselves as “laid back, offering simple food that’s made well”. Honestly, we couldn’t agree more. Their menu features a solid range of comfort foods with both Western and Eastern influences. Here you’ll find options like cheeseburgers, pasta, steak, ribs and chicken satay.
We opted to try the ‘Fettucine Marinara’ and ‘Don Cockatoo Burger’, both choices were delicious. Besides comfort food, the Fat Mermaid in Canggu also makes great cocktails. The Espresso Martini and Rasberry Cookie Mojito are among the best cocktails we’ve had in the area!
Don’t just stop at the Fat Mermaid for dinner though, as they also offer great breakfast and lunch menus.
Milk & Madu
Milk & Madu is another one of ‘The Goodfood Brotherhood’s” fantastic eateries. The amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner menus make Milk & Madu one of the best restaurants in Canggu. If you’re looking for a good dinner in Canggu then look no further because Milk & Madu have it all.
The dinner options range from pasta, fish, steak, gourmet burgers, pizza and salad. Having tried almost one of everything, we can highly recommend the Southern Fried Chicken burger and ‘Got Beef’ese’ pizza.
Are you looking for some of the best Indonesian food in Canggu? Ulekan might be what you’re looking for! It’s a world away from the warungs that you might have seen around, but Ulekan offers all the local favourites.
The restaurant, owned by ‘The Good Food Brotherhood’, is described as a ‘celebration of Indonesian’ cuisine in a stylish setting, serving great food, drinks and desserts. On the menu, you can expect to find local foods like Ayam Sate, Nasi Goreng, Ayam Lalapan and Soto Ayam.
In our opinion, the restaurant is a great ‘upmarket’ version of the famous local dishes. We absolutely loved the Penyet starter, Ayam Lalapan and Kare Sari Laut for our mains. We were already full but couldn’t resist the deserts, the Balinese Banoffee and Ice cream sandwich were to die for!
If we made a list of Canggu’s most Instagrammable cafes and restaurants ‘The Mocca’ might be the automatic number 1 choice. The interior is homely and their food, both breakfast and dinner, is unbelievably good for both the eyes and the tastebuds!
It’s hard to choose a favourite from the menu, though if we had to, we’d recommend the chilli cheese fries. Though their pizza is amazing too and one of the best pizzas we’ve had in the area. All in all, we’d say The Mocca is one of the best restaurants in Canggu.
We’d also suggest going on the weekend when you can pick up 3 beers for 50k. Otherwise, you can choose to receive a free beer with any pizza ordered, how couldn’t you be tempted?
If you’re looking for dinner with a sunset view then you have to check out Old Mans. To be entirely honest, the food isn’t the reason we call Old Mans one of the best places to eat in Canggu. The good music, sunset view and happy hour drinks are what keeps us coming back.
We’ve tried the Spaghetti Carbonara which was very good, albeit on the small side and a little pricey. Be sure to get here between 5pm-6pm so that you can take advantage of the 2-4-1 Bintang and Cocktails. The Bintang, at 30K for 2 (15k each), must be the cheapest beer in Canggu!
Sizzle Wraps isn’t just one of our top cheap eats but also one of our top restaurants in Canggu. It’s something different but every bit as delicious as the other places on this list. If you’re looking for cheap Mexican food in Canggu then this is your place!
Their menu has everything from nachos, burritos, quesadillas, tacos, Mexican pizza and some really good cocktails. We’ve tried almost one of everything on the menu and highly recommend the carnitas and veggie burrito. Go at happy hour to enjoy one of the cheap cocktails to go with your meal.
Take one look at Instagram and you’ll know that Santorini, Greece is a very “in” travel destination right now. The destination is famous for its cute blue and white buildings. The good news is that you can get those Santorini summer vibes right here in Canggu!
The cute café is styled to make you feel as if you’re in Santorini itself and the food is top quality. Offering Greek food, like tzatziki with pita, shwarma and gyros, this is one food stop you don’t want to miss. We ate all of the above and was only left with an appetite for more!
The Junction House
The Junction House in Seminyak is not just a restaurant, but a carefully crafted concept diner. The interior is designed to feely homely and reminiscent of a Parisian apartment, we’re sure you won’t find anywhere like it in Bali.
On the menu, you’ll find French-inspired dishes as well as many Asian and international treats. The dishes vary from chicken & waffles to Thai Noodles and a range of Italian meals. The food was wonderful from starters to desserts and that’s why we don’t mind going a little further out to visit this place.
Batik is another concept-based restaurant from the same family as The Junction House. The restaurant’s design is heavily inspired by the Indonesian textiles manufacturing method of the same name. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, giving off a sense of classiness whilst also offering some cultural insight.
The menu at Batik offers many Indonesian delights as well as other favourites from around Southeast Asia. Our choice of dishes was the Ayam Betutu and Thai Green Curry, which were both fantastic. We don’t usually eat dessert, but we could hardly resist as Batik offers some incredible sweet treats.
