Yes, we went back to Kuala Lumpur, it seems that we just can’t keep away! For this visit, we came with the intention of exploring the city as much as possible. During our previous two visits, we stayed a little further out and we found it quite limiting. This time around we wanted to stay more central and in the thick of the action. Usually, hotels in such locations come at a cost, but this isn’t the case for Travelodge Bukit Bintang. Right in the action and very affordable, this hotel is a great base to make the most out of your trip.
Travelodge Bukit Bintang Hotel
The TravelodgeAsia brand only started operating in 2017 but already has 7 hotels dotted around Asia. With two hotels open in Kuala Lumpur, their Bukit Bintang hotel is the ideal accommodation for those travellers wanting to immerse themselves in the action like a true local. We’d recommend this hotel to solo travellers and couples alike.
Upon arriving it was hard to miss the bright red Travelodge logo on the top of the tall hotel. We were pleasantly surprised to see the hotel entrance opens right onto Jalan Alor. Getting excited about our stay we entered the hotel, where we were greeted by the very welcoming security.
In the hotel, the first thing we noticed was the very friendly staff who helped us through the check-in process. Although we were checked in within minutes, the bright and airy lobby is there if you need to wait. We hopped into one of the two lifts and used our key card to get to the 6th floor.
Amongst the many rooms available, ours was one with a great view. We reached our balcony room and were greeted with views overlooking some of the KL skyline and the lively Jalan Alor.
We were pleasantly surprised with the size and overall look of the room for such a small fee. Small perks were a major plus and included bottled water, tea and coffee facilities and a decent sized fridge. All rooms come equipped with free wifi, a desk, with plenty of USB and plug outlets; perfect for anybody who needs to work during their stay.
After a busy day exploring the city, we loved escaping from the heat in our air-conditioned room, relaxing and laying down to watch a movie on the big LCD TV. But of all the added extras, the main thing that stood out was the bed! We had 3 excellent night sleeps in the comfy big bed with quality white linen. The blackout curtains were also a huge bonus in our eyes.
The bathroom is everything you’d need for a short stay. The typical amenities are provided as well as a complimentary toiletry kit. We loved stepping out of the big hot shower and putting on our courtesy slippers. A hairdryer is also provided as well as daily housekeeping to refresh the supplies.
We’re sure you’ll be spending the majority of your time out exploring the magnificent city but if you feel the urge to workout then you can head to the hotel gym. We had a look around and can tell you it’s fully equipped with modern cardio and strength equipment. Although we didn’t take advantage of this space we think its a fantastic feature of the hotel. If you’re on a long haul trip, you can make use of the token-operated self-laundrette.
In the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s entertainment and shopping district, Travelodge Bukit Bintang is in the perfect location. The hotel itself is right at the end of Jalan Alor, the lively food street is filled with the biggest selection of local street food and roadside restaurants. Join in the atmosphere and stroll along this bustling street or sit back, relax, grab some seafood and listen to the street performers.
Kuala Lumpur has a great transport system and navigating the big city couldn’t be easier. The Air-Asia Bukit Bintang monorail station is only 5 minutes from the hotel. This monorail station serves as the perfect link between you and the rest of the city.
Also within a 5-minute radius and only a stone throw away from the monorail station are Lot 10, Fahrenheit88 and the Pavilion Shopping malls. The malls have everything from budget shops and food-courts to high-end luxury retailers and restaurants.
Amongst the variety of activities surrounding the hotel, Bukit Bintang’s new street art scene and the City Durian Specialist were some of our highlights. Check out our 17 things to do in KL and 3-day itinerary to read all about the great things to see and do on your trip.
Our time at Travelodge Asia Bukit Bintang Hotel really was a fantastic experience. We fully recommend this hotel for any kind of traveller and would stay there again in a heartbeat. We’ll be keeping our eye out for the other Travelodge hotels as we make our way around Asia.
